My brain was asking me “hey you, can you help me?” and…

Yayyy, I’ve finally taken a decision! I’ve decided to enrol on the UX Bootcamp released by CareerFoundry 🚀.

🦠 In this pandemic period, you know, each of us it’s still blocked at home and in the expectation we could taste freedom again (I really hope this soon), I’ve decided “to be a one” and a few months ago I’ve started seriously my studying about User Experience Design.

What Means “To Be a One” ?!

While I stay at home I was remembering a question a friend asked me during my past journey in Helsinki. This memory comes to my ears and said again: “Are you a one or a zero?”. In electronic, this indicates a state of being. A light bulb could be ON or OFF. And it’s not a coincidence that people in a room are similar to a light bulb, they heat in the same way… 💡

But you have to decide about yourself and what would you like to be. Are you on or off? Are you living your life actively or passively? Switch you ON!

It was October and just a few months before my degree, thus I’ve decided in my free time to study User Experience. How? I’ve enrolled on a Udemy course released by a great Teacher, David Travis! This course is not really expensive (sometimes on Udemy there is a senseless discount 😌 In addiction, you can check here, it’s a page to redeem a promotion). I really suggest attending this course if, like me then, you’re going to be a UXer and you don’t know 100% if UX is the right choice for you.

Hi there! I really recommend that you take a look at the Udemy courses.

Sign up now!

After completed that course, I’ve got my first project, but obviously, I have to improve it (also now). One thing you probably don’t know about user experience is that you will never finish updating your portfolio! As you improve your knowledge, you will want to improve your portfolio too. Be careful to not despair with just your first project, because a well-done project reaches out time (months and sometimes one year too, if you don’t trust me, try to search online). Don’t desperate, especially in the beginning!

So, WHY Did I decide to enrol on CareerFoundry UX Course?

Because, after David Travis’ course I’ve started to read articles and books about UX, watching videos and trying to improve my knowledge about this wonderful discipline. But in the end, my problem was that I ended up being overwhelmed and I couldn’t sleep at night, because I was having too many pieces of information, in absolute disorder.

I was overwhelmed also when I was looking for a good Bootcamp 😂

Reading reviews — if you are interested just search on google or go on coursereport.com — took away a lot of my time.

While I was deciding on an online Bootcamp, I narrowed down my choices between Careerfoundry & DesignLab, the most popular and very similar UX courses. After several months I’ve chosen CareerFoundry because it’s the only one which gives you a complete reimbursement if you won’t find a job in 6 months (I hope that this won’t happen haha) and also because you have more hours to spend with your mentor. Moreover, the fact that the job warranty of CareerFoundry included more geographical areas in Europe, in the end, made a big difference for me. At last, but not least, the real difference can only be made by you! 🧠 #beCreative.

Many people have been asked me why I did not do an in presence course, but I don’t want to wait anymore, I’d like to became what I want in the shortest time possible and also because I’ve preferred to do not to quit my job and try to become a UXer without stopping my job career and so without having “dead spots” in my future curriculum.

– A SMALL FURTHER ARGUMENTATION –

I believe that it is possible to start a successful career in UX design also as a self-taught. But, in my case, I’ve perceived this need: someone who gives to me feedback, constantly and tell me if I’m doing right or not. I felt that the advantage of having a mentor and a tutor supporting me every week, the warranty of an updated and quality proved curriculum and portfolio, the job warranty, and a structured path to follow would be fundamental in giving me the peacefulness I want.

AT THE END

I’m working full-time and I really want to change my career with a certain assurance and a Bootcamp like CareerFoundry seems to be the best option, with a Tutor and a Mentor which I hope will help me, supporting me to overcome my obstacles and achieve my goal for this 2021!

The course it’s not started yet, it starts on 1st March and I’m really anxious and still with some doubts about it, but I hope I have made the right choice. I’m having troubles with the payment phase haha I’m not a lucky man. But the Student Advisor at CareerFoundry is supporting me, it’s all part of the game when you decide to switch ON.

and you? Did you have done a Bootcamp yet? or instead, did you choose another way to learn for yourself? or again, what are you waiting for?

Became a UXer and let’s do some noize 🤟🏻🔥

Thank you for reading! Hopeful you enjoyed this small story. If you have any feedback, I’d like to hear from you. Comment below or just Clap-Clap-Clap 👏🏻 (long press to make some noize ahah).
